FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT SENIOR PROJECT

Early-Mid February: Senior Project / Library Media Center Check-Ins (Nearpod Slides) 

  • Submit Process Paper for Demonstration Option 2 (Top Chef)
  • Work on your PowerPoint presentation & presentation plan
  • Utilize strategies for effective PowerPoint presentations
  • Begin to practice your presentation
  • Make progress toward the next deadlines: practice with your mentor & a fully complete rough draft PPT due to CTE instructor 

Late January: Senior Project / Library Media Center Check-Ins (Nearpod Slides) 

  • Review presentation rubric & 3rd and 4th quarter Senior Project calendar
  • Work on your PowerPoint presentation & presentation notes
  • Utilize strategies for effective PowerPoint presentations

Early-Mid January: Senior Project / Library Media Center Check-Ins (Nearpod Slides) 

  • Complete research notes on 3+ sources and all research questions
  • Complete Final Version of Deliverable 3A: Evidence of Research & Product Progress
  • Check in with your mentor regarding research sources & notes

December: Senior Project / Library Media Center Check-Ins (Nearpod Slides) 

  • Make progress locating & using research sources
  • Make progress on research notes using a notes template
  • Complete Deliverable 3A: Evidence of Research & Product Progress

November: Senior Project / Library Media Center Check-Ins (Nearpod Slides)

  • View & analyze a Senior Project PowerPoint example
  • Learn about & make progress locating and using quality research sources 
  • Cite sources in Noodle Tools & use a research notes template
  • Use and learn strategies for research and utilize the Senior Project pages on the library media center website

October: Senior Project / Library Media Center Check-ins 3 & 4 (Nearpod Slides)

  • Make final edits to Senior Project Proposals. Submit or resubmit to your instructor.
  • Set up for 2nd Quarter Deliverables:

A) Review "Evidence of Research & Project Progress Rubric" (Deliverable 3A on Aspen).

B) Set up Noodle Tools for Senior Project. Use the style (MLA or APA) appropriate for your career major.

C) Choose a notes template

  • Begin adding sources to Noodle Tools & notes to notes template.

Note: During our first October meeting (3rd check-in meeting), Seniors made edits to their rough draft Senior Project Proposals using their own personal review and feedback from others. 


Late September: Senior Project / Library Media Center Check-In 2 (Nearpod Slides)

Work on & edit the Project Proposal by reviewing & breaking down steps of the research process:

A. Locate, skim, save, & summarize some preliminary research sources

B. Use the Question Formulation Technique strategy to brainstorm & draft questions about your research topic

C. Edit & choose what research questions you will investigate; start to think about next steps in the research process


September: Senior Project / Library Media Center Check- In (Nearpod Slides)

  • Get organized for Senior Project: set up a One Drive Folder (Senior Project), go to the Aspen Senior Page / Senior Project resources and save Q1 deliverables to the folder (Deliverable 1, 2A, & 2B)
  • Review requirements for the signatures form including the role of the mentor (Deliverable 2B)
  • Review Quarter 1 Senior Project calendar
  • Work toward completion of the Brainstorming sheets; submission to CTE instructor
  • Consider next steps including initial research and connecting with mentor

  • Review & learn about Senior Project requirements
  • Make connections for Senior Project between students & Ms. Gleason, the Library Media Specialist
