Sora: E-Books and Audiobooks

GETTING STARTED WITH SORA

Sora is a new reading and listening website and app from OverDrive and Minuteman High School. With Sora, students and staff can access a large collection of eBooks and audiobooks for independent reading. Students can read or listen to these books using a computer, phone or eReader.

SORA HOW-TO

Step 1: Go to the Sora website 

Step 2: Scroll down the list to select Minuteman Regional High

Minuteman is a member, along with many other districts, of the Massachusetts Library System Commonwealth eBooks Collection.

Step 3: Sign in

The sign-in process will go through ClassLink.

Step 4: Browse and borrow

Search for a book or browse. Once you have selected a book, click borrow.  Your book will open and you can start reading right away.

Step 5: Go to your shelf to see all of your books

  • Tap Open Book or Open Audiobook to read or listen to the book where you left off.
  • Tap Options to renew or return a book, get to your notes and highlights, and more.

  • Meet Sora Learn about features, tools, and how to download the Sora app on your personal device
  • Using Sora Directions for a range of Sora elements including reading and listening, returning and renewing, holds, notes and highlights, kindle, searching, libraries, languages, accessibility, and more
  • Get the Sora app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store 

You can use Sora to browse your public library network and borrow books with your library card.

To add your public library network:

  1. Click or tap menu icon.

​2. Select Add a public library.

3. Use the search box to search for Minuteman Library Network, then select This is my library. The library will open in the Explore tab.

To switch between libraries, select a library from the menu or from the drop-down at the top of the Explore tab.

First register for SYNC 2020 on the AudioFile Sync homepage

Then, presuming you already use Sora (see above on this webpage), you’ll need to add the SYNC program’s library. Here are the steps:

1. In Sora, open the menu (in the top-right corner) menu icon.
2. Select Add a public library.
3. Search for audiobooksync and select the library from the results.
